A Savior is Born...Session 1

Workbook Download - A Savior is Born Session 1 by PurposeChurch

Don't you dare give up...ever.

Psalm 91
I don’t know what difficulties you are going through just now, but I know some of the feelings you have, because I have been on this bumpy road myself. You feel like quitting, like giving up. You can’t understand why the road doesn’t get easier, why God doesn’t remove the stones and straighten the path. If God did that, you might never get to the top, because the bumps are what you can climb on.
The trouble with most of us is that we are accustomed to paved roads and level sidewalks. But life is not made that way. Sometimes the road is level and easy, and the birds are singing and the way is wonderful. But sometimes the road is rocky and bumpy, and we hear no music and feel no helping hand. Then what? Complain? Give up? No, that’s the time to remember God’s promise.
Psalm 91 says, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” It is a psalm that magnifies the care that God exercises over His children. Eleven different kinds of dangers are named in this psalm—war, snares, sickness, terrors by night, arrows by day, and others—yet God says that He can protect us from them all. This doesn’t mean that we will never experience accidents or injuries; but it does mean that no matter what happens in the will of God, all things will work together for good.
One of the greatest promises found in Psalm 91 has to do with the stones on the path. “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.” God doesn’t promise to remove the stones from the path, but He does promise to make them stepping-stones and not stumbling blocks. He is always with you...seek Him out and climb.

You've got this...

You got this... Dont let satan steal it away.
As Christians, we have every reason to live with assurance—we have the very presence of God living within us (John 14:17). But in addition, we also have His peace, power, and provision (Phil. 4:7, 13, 19).
Our world is full of distrust, fear, and uncertainty. Don’t allow yourself to listen to negative messages, which can make you lose the confidence God gives His children. Instead, focus on the truth in Scripture, as well as the glory and victory of Jesus. Let His perfect love cast out your fear (1 John 4:18).

oh what to do...?

Oh what to do...
We face choices on a daily basis. Am I going to plan my time around my needs, or around the needs of others? Am I going to serve others or try to force them to serve me?
Think about this for a moment. Jesus, the Son of God, did not come to earth so that people could serve Him. Instead, he came to serve others.
The attitude of submission, detailed in Ephesians 5:21, sets a clear context for the familiar verses that follow:
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (Ephesians 5:22-25).
This is undoubtedly one of the most difficult and misunderstood passages of the Bible. But notice how the theme of “submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ” runs through it. Wives submit to their husbands as the church does to Christ. And husbands, given the responsibility to lead in a marriage, are to love their wives “as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
We each have different roles but as we work out these roles the overall attitude is one of selflessness—of regarding others as more important than ourselves, just as Christ did for us (Philippians 2:1-11).
We do this out of reverence for Christ, who set the example of submitting His desires and will in order to serve us and to fulfill God’s will. This is the Christ who “came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28).
Be Blessed... but strive to be a Blessing to others 1st.

Less is More

Church planting is work my friend. Its GOD'S work but we are still the laborers. At times it can be discouraging to operate in lack...however GOD encourages us especially in those times when we seek HIS face. Whatever your situation is consider this:

The Less Resources You Have:

1. The more intentional you must be about development.

Without lots of money, you’re forced to be deliberate with what you do have, making the most of every opportunity. Leaders must be extremely thoughtful and prepared. You don’t have the luxury to make loads of mistakes.

2. The more resourceful you must be with time and energy.

Without lots of money, leaders must wisely steward every nickel they have, every person on staff and every resource that can be used for multiple purposes. You don’t have the luxury of lots of outside options so you find them within.

3. The more flexible and creative you must be with people.

Without lots of money, you can’t be mentally flabby. You must discover what you do have, adapting your possessions with the needs in front of you. You must take advantage of people who are in town, advisors and unexpected gifts.

4. The more long-term vision and patience you must possess.

The truth is, regardless of whether we have money or not, we should be intentional, resourceful, creative and visionary. Sadly, it’s only when we’re forced to be due to lack of resources, that we become patient and resourceful.

It was Alexander Graham Bell’s hearing impairment that fostered the invention of the telephone. It was when Charles Kettering broke his arm cranking up his car that he created the electronic ignition system. And it was a huge fine that Reed Hastings owed to a video rental company—which he didn’t want to tell his wife about—that led him to create Netflix. I love how creative and resourceful we get when we have to be. It’s already inside of us—but sometimes we don’t see it hiding behind excuses.

Money or no money—may you develop the talent around you.

It doesn't matter if you are a pastor in the pulpit or a late comer in the last pew, a senior soldier, or a brand new baby in Christ. There is purpose, direction, meaning, answers, and ultimately Salvation in deepening, discovering, and developing your relationship with Jesus Christ. As in any relationship there is a requirement that has to be met...you have to get to know the other person and accept them Will you accept this challenge? These are the rules: Everyday check in to view the video posted that day as well as the materials for that day. You must comment in the group some observation, insight, question, or thought. If it is extremely personal, pray on it and ask GOD for the appropriate comment to share. Do not keep this challenge to yourself. What we are about at Purpose Church

As the pastor of Purpose Church i don't want to make your ear itch, i don't want to just feed you. i don't want to just take care of "church business", within the 4 walls ( when that happens we turn in to "just us", not worshiping Jesus ), and i certainly don't want you to find a place to be comfortable...nope. i want none of that. This is want i Do want. I want you to fall so in love with Jesus that you weep bitterly everytime you stray, and cry Joyfully when you repent and are reunited with HIM again. I want you to anticipate the days, hours, minutes, seconds you have to sit at HIS feet and grow. I want you to experience Joy...not just happiness because it is fleeting; to not only know the difference but to Know where Joy comes from. I want you to expect that there will be trouble in this life, but to also take confidence in the fact that as long as you are walking with Jesus you will make it through. I want you to relish the privilege of worshiping Jesus and making your lives an offering to Him. I want you to see your hearts as gifts that you offer to HIM...and Finally i want you to learn these things and then (while you are learning), share it with everyone you know. I want Jesus to no longer be a secret, but rather the Savior to all who accept Him. That where we the Church comes in..,We are the hands and feet...GOD has given us His message...we must 1st hear it , 2nd accept it, 3rd Live it, 4th Share it. Jesus calls us to be His disciples, and then to disciple. See it both your identity, and your Purpose. This is what Purpose Church is about. If you agree i would live to talk with you. Be Blessed #givetheGospellegs

Men's Devotional Day 2

A Kingdom Man Aims for the Goal

Failure is not fatal, but failure to change might be.
—John Wooden, Wooden: A Lifetime of Observations and Reflections On and Off the Court

My son Jonathan is a big guy who has played in the NFL. When he was young and five-foot-three, he asked me to come to the gym and watch him dunk the basketball. He had been practicing for months. Jonathan dribbled and dunked. I offered abbreviated congratulations. Then I turned to the athletic director and pointedly told him to raise the basket back up to where it belonged. Impatient to grow taller, Jonathan had lowered the goal.

Men, God has a standard. He has a goal. His kingdom is that goal. Yet so many have lowered His standard only to congratulate themselves for being able to dunk the ball. The results of this lowered standard, though, affect us all. It shows up in our country. In our culture. In the economics of our world. It takes only a cursory glance around our homes, churches, communities, and globe to uncover that many men have missed the goal to live as kingdom men.

That must change.

The apostle Paul said, “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win” (1 Corinthians 9:24).
We must run to win. We must raise the standard to where God originally placed it. We must define manhood as God intended it to be.

In what areas of your life have you lowered the goal?

Are there any pursuits or possessions that have distracted you from the standard of God’s kingdom?

What scripture can serve as your reminder to pursue God’s kingdom today?

Prayer
God, today I commit to pursue Your goal, Your standard, Your kingdom. Refocus my vision and strengthen my determination. Amen.

Remember gentlemen we want to be finished with at least the 1st 2 chapters of your book by our next meeting , which is a week from Saturday.

Here are my reflections from yesterday's devotional:

Who is your favorite movie character? What about him inspires you?     Captain James T. Kirk      He was a man of action, and although he didn't always get it right...he made a difference. He made waves.

How would your current life play out on the big screen?    Hmmm well i believe it would be a combination of several types of movies.  Comedy, action, overcoming odds, and recently being a sellout...A total sellout for GOD.

What treasure will you fight for today? How?   My family, and those who need someone to fight for them... Now the second part of this is different for me...I no longer rely on what i come up with...no my friends...i let GOD direct my actions...and i pray He does the same to my tongue. Words are so important...and although they can be regretted they are never able to be taken back. Guide my steps Lord, and continue to unveil Your plan.  In Your name i pray Jesus ...Amen.

Please feel free if you are lead, to share you devotional thoughts.   Be Blessed
