You are Not alone Beloved...

You are not alone beloved
The Good Shepherd – Psalm 23

The Lord is your shepherd:
you shall lack nothing.
He makes you lie down in green pastures.
He leads you beside the still waters.
He restores your soul.
He guides you in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Even though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
you will fear no evil, for you are with Him.
His rod and His staff, they comfort you.
He prepares a table before you in the presence of your enemies.
He anoints your head with oil.
your cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life,
And you shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.  Be Blessed

Forgivness...

A letter written to a man on death row by the Father of the man whom the man on death row had killed:
You are probably surprised that I, of all people, am writing a letter to you, but I ask you to read it in its entirety and consider its request seriously. As the Father of the man whom you took part in murdering, I have something very important to say to you.
I forgive you. With all my heart, I forgive you. I realize it may be hard for you to believe, but I really do. At your trial, when you confessed to your part in the events that cost my Son his life and asked for my forgiveness, I immediately granted you that forgiving love from my heart. I can only hope you believe me and will accept my forgiveness.
But this is not all I have to say to you. I want to make you an offer -- I want you to become my adopted child. You see, my Son who died was my only child, and I now want to share my life with you and leave my riches to you. This may not make sense to you or anyone else, but I believe you are worth the offer. I have arranged matters so that if you will receive my offer of forgiveness, not only will you be pardoned for your crime, but you also will be set free from your imprisonment, and your sentence of death will be dismissed. At that point, you will become my adopted child and heir to all my riches.
I realize this is a risky offer for me to make to you -- you might be tempted to reject my offer completely -- but I make it to you without reservation.
Also, I realize it may seem foolish to make such an offer to one who cost my Son his life, but I now have a great love and an unchangeable forgiveness in my heart for you.
Finally, you may be concerned that once you accept my offer you may do something to cause you to be denied your rights as an heir to my wealth. Nothing could be further from the truth. If I can forgive you for your part in my Son's death, I can forgive you for anything. I know you never will be perfect, but you do not have to be perfect to receive my offer. Besides, I believe that once you have accepted my offer and begin to experience the riches that will come to you from me, that your primary (though not always) response will be gratitude and loyalty.
Some would call me foolish for my offer to you, but I wish for you to call me your Father.
Sincerely,
The Father of Jesus

Just 5 more minutes

Just Five More Minutes
The radio blaring startled me awake. Just five more minutes, I told myself, as I banged around on the headboard and finally found the snooze button.
Four times, I said just five more minutes, only my snooze alarm is random, it goes off at intervals every where from five to nine minutes. Suddenly it was 33 minutes later than I was supposed to get up and I was in a panic. The rest of the day was thrown off kilter because of just five more minutes.
I haven't decided if the snooze button is a great invention or a curse. I know it impacts me, because I'll play mind games with it. I'll set my alarm ten minutes early because, I can "sneak" a few extra minutes of sleep in when it goes off.
The quality of the sleep isn't very good, but it seems so much better because it is some sleep I've managed to "steal". Truth be known, I would have slept better if I had set the alarm for the right time and simply got up with it.
I wondered this morning how often God had been calling me and I hit my internal snooze button instead. Just wait a little longer God, just a little longer, just a little longer. Suddenly I'm running way behind and I missed out on the opportunity to listen or to serve.
God puts someone on my heart and says give them a call or drop them a note. Okay God, just as soon as I .... and then it's weeks later. I find out that in the interim they had been going through a crisis time and really could have used some encouragement.
We all do it. I think I do it less now than I used to earlier in my walk, but I'm far from perfect. I'm so glad He is a loving, patient and merciful God.
He's used to people putting other things ahead of time with Him or in obedience to Him.

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"
"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her. Luke 10:38-42 NIV

Martha would have made time after the house was perfect. The disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane would have prayed with Jesus after a little nap.
When will you make time to listen and obey?
Until next time, may you take the time with Him instead of playing games with life's snooze alarm.

The value of time

The Value of Time
·
To realize the value of one year;
Ask a student who has failed a final exam.

To realize the value of one month;
ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of one hour;
Ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of one minute;
ask the person who has missed the train, or bus or plane.

To realize the value of one second;
ask a person who has survived an accident.

To realize the value of one millisecond;
Ask the person who has won silver at the Olympics.

Time waits for no one. Treasure every moment you have.
You will treasure it even more if you can spend it with someone special.

The Interview

In a dream, I had an interview with God.

"Come in," God said to me, "So, you would like to interview Me?"

"If you have the time," I said.

God smiled and said: "My time is called eternity and is enough to do everything; what questions do you have in mind to ask me?"

"None that are new to you. What's the one thing that surprises you most about mankind?"

God answered: "That they get bored of being children, are in a rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.

That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.

That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live neither for the present nor the future.

That they live as if they will never die, and they die as if they had never lived..."

God's hands took mine and we were silent. After a long period, I said, "May I ask you another question?" "As a Parent, what would you ask your children to do?"

God replied with a smile: "To learn that they cannot make anyone love them. what is important is who they love. To learn that it takes years to build trust, and a few seconds to destroy it.

To learn that what is most valuable is not what they have in their lives, but who they have in their lives.

To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. There will be others better or worse than they are.

To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.

To learn that they should control their attitudes, otherwise their attitudes will control them.

To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and that it takes many years to heal them.

To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.

To learn that there are persons that love them dearly, but simply do not know how to show their feelings.

To learn that money can buy everything but happiness.

To learn that while at times they may be entitled to be upset, that does not give them the right to upset those around them.

To learn that great dreams do not require great wings, but a landing gear to achieve.

To learn that true friends are scarce, he/she who has found one has found a true treasure.

To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others, but that they forgive themselves.

To learn that they are masters of what they keep to themselves and slaves of what they say.

To learn that they shall reap what they plant; if they plant gossip they will harvest intrigues, if they plant love they will harvest happiness.

To learn that true happiness is not to achieve their goals but to learn who they are through striving towards them.

To learn that happiness is a decision. They decide to be happy with what they are and have, or die from envy and jealousy of what they lack.

To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see something totally different.

To learn that those who are honest with themselves without considering the consequences go far in life.

To learn that even though they may think they have nothing to give, when a friend cries with them, they find the strength to appease the pain.

To learn that by trying to hold on to loved ones, they very quickly push them away; and by letting go of those they love, they will be side by side forever.

To learn that even though the word "love" has many different meanings, it loses value when it is overstated.

To learn that they can never do something extraordinary for Me to love them; I simply do.

To learn that the shortest distance they could be from Me is the distance of a prayer.

Never Alone....

A minister passing through his church in the middle of the day, decided to pause by the altar and see who had come to pray.  Just then the back door opened, a man came down the aisle. The minister frowned as he saw the man hadn’t shaved in a while.  His shirt was kinda’ shabby and his coat was worn and frayed.  The man knelt, he bowed his head, then rose and walked away.

In the days that followed, each noon time came this chap, each time he  knelt  just for a moment, a lunch pail in his lap.  Well, the minister’s suspicions grew, with robbery a main fear, He decided to stop the man and ask him, “Watcha’ doin’ here?”

The old man said, he worked down the road.  Lunch was half an hour.  Lunchtime was his prayer time, for finding strength and power.”I stay only moments, see, ‘cause the factory is so far away. As I kneel here talking’ to the Lord, this is kinda’ what I say:

“I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I’VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER’S FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.  I DON’T KNOW MUCH OF  HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY.  SO, JESUS, THIS IS JIM  CHECKIN’ IN.”

The minister feeling foolish, told Jim, that was fine. He told the man he was welcome to come and pray just anytime.  Time to go, Jim smiled, said “Thanks.”  He hurried to the door.  The minister knelt at the alter, he’d never done it before.  His cold heart melted, warmed with love, he met with Jesus there.  As the tears flowed, in his heart, he repeated old Jim’s prayer:

“I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD, HOW HAPPY I’VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER’S FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.  I DON’T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY.  SO, JESUS, THIS IS ME CHECKIN’ IN.”

Past noon one day, the minister noticed that old Jim hadn’t come. As more days passed without Jim, he began to worry some.  At the factory, he asked about him, learning he was ill.  The hospital staff was worried, but he’d given them a thrill.  The week that Jim was with them, brought changes in the ward. His smiles, a joy contagious. Changed people, his reward.  The head nurse couldn’t understand why Jim was so glad, when no flowers, calls or cards came, not a visitor he had.

The minister stayed by his bed, he voiced the nurse’s concern: No friends came to show they cared. He had nowhere to turn. Looking surprised, old Jim spoke up and with a winsome smile “The nurse is wrong, she couldn’t know, that all the while Everyday at noon. He’s here, a dear friend of mine, you see, He sits right down, takes my hand, leans over and says to me:

“I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, JIM, HOW HAPPY I HAVE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND THIS FRIENDSHIP, AND I TOOK AWAY YOUR SIN.  I ALWAYS LOVE TO HEAR YOU   PRAY, I THINK ABOUT YOU EACH DAY, AND SO JIM, THIS IS JESUS CHECKIN’ IN.”

Purpose Church 2 Minute message :Leadership 5-2-2012

Leadership
When leaders make a mistake, they say, "I was wrong."
When followers make mistakes, they say, "It wasn't my fault."

A leader works harder than a follower and has more time;
a follower is always "too busy" to do what is necessary.

A leader goes through a problem;
a follower goes around it and never gets past it.

A leader makes and keeps commitments;
a follower makes and forgets promises.

A leader says, "I'm good, but not as good as I ought to be;"
a follower says, "I'm not as bad as a lot of other people."

Leaders listen;
followers just wait until it's their turn to talk.

Leaders respect those who are superior to them and tries to learn something from them;
followers resent those who are superior to them and try to find chinks in their armor.

Leaders feel responsibile for more than their job;
followers say, "I only work here."

A leader says, "There ought to be a better way to do this;"
followers say, "That's the way it's always been done here."
